Michael, Jason, Jerry, and Julia

Took time away from the blue pencil and the sketchbook this morning to do some value and portrait studies digitally. It was a lot of fun to put together. Each portrait study took 30 to 40 minutes to complete. I'm sure there will be many more to come.

Random sketches

Random sketches from my daily sketch efforts. Focusing currently on character faces and figure drawing. Can you spot Neil, Deron, Carlos, Mack, Michael, Sean, and Conan? I hope so.

Sketches on the bus

On my recent tour across the central states with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir I found plenty of time to get some sketching done on the tour bus. Inspiration came from stuff happening around me during that time: Wimbledon, people on tour, movies, news, Father's day, etc...

In Progress

Working on some temple pieces that I could screen print and maybe hang in the house. Looking to nail it with 2 or 3 colors. I've still got some ideas to push around, but here is where I'm at so far with the project.

Face Study: Heidi

Face study on model Heidi Klum. I'm experimenting with some pencil and ink over the top of the original sketches on the two faces on the left.

3 pretty cute kids

Part of my daily face study. I decided to work on the mugs of each one of the kids.

Running On

Inspired by road signage, other artists, and the Ogden 26.2. The Ogden Union Station is visible in the background. The Ogden marathon finishes just up the road from that historic location. I created this imaginary sign to remember the event in 2009. My wife and I ran the whole marathon together. Looking at this logo you either see a man running toward you with the woman running  after, a woman running away from you with the man following, and maybe a man running toward you and the woman running away. In my case, I'm usually chasing after my wife, she is faster than me.
