Audrey on the iPad

Remembering Audrey Hepburn on her birthday this May 4th, I dedicated a quick 20 minute character sketch study to her memory. This is more or less the first study that I've completed on the new iPad. Sketching on this new little device will take some getting used to, but it should allow me to practice anywhere I like in a digital medium. My pogo stylus works pretty well. It would be nice if I had something that was pressure sensitive and something that had more of a point to it, but it'll do. The stylus is much better than trying to finger paint on the thing.

3 pretty cute kids

Part of my daily face study. I decided to work on the mugs of each one of the kids.

The Pretty Boy

Just playing around with my paint brush in photoshop. Wanting to give a hint of lighting and depth the the cartoon face here. I wanted to select a nice color palette for a character that I came up with growing up. The yellow is inspired by a tennis ball. Don't all pretty boys play tennis?

Heads

This is just a quick study of some very different faces and expressions from women to men to children. It is fascinating to learn about the face and the relationships that all the features have with one another. Stay tuned for my upcoming post titled 'Tails'.

A quick study here on figure gestures. It's good practice for getting the shoulder line and hips aligned to make a more lifelike pose.

Olympics 2008

Just playing around here with textures and the Wacom tablet to come up with a fun desktop wallpaper design as I watch the Olympics. The gymnast and the background aren't really jiving together in the same space, but I'll chalk this one up for good practice.

I read Dan Brown’s Angels & Demon (which I liked better than the DaVinci Code), and I had to try it. It’s a stretch in some ways, but it works.
