Water Tower Design Concepting

South Ogden is putting a fresh coat of paint on the water towers that welcome you to the city at about 5600 S. and Harrison Blvd. The city will award the selected design with $1,500. I'm in it for the money, but also because I love South Ogden. We have so many great memories there.

Concept Poster for Community Musical

I wanted to make this poster look like it came from the era in which the musical was written. By overlaying the color onto an aged paper texture and purposefully laying the color down like ink that is just out of register, the poster takes on the look of a screen printed piece from the 50's.

A Feast of Floats

Hoping to begin a long lasting tradition this year after our Thanksgiving Day feast. The Float Feast will take place the day after Thanksgiving. Not to be confused with the Float Fest which is a similar celebration, but is not accompanied by a large meal.

Discovery

I had the opportunity to throw out some ideas for a real estate brokerage logo a few weeks back. While none of the concepts that I submitted where selected, I figured I'd develop and post the idea I liked best.

Fashion Design?

I didn't see this one coming. My friend Nkoyo Iyamba, a very talented wedding dress designer, asked me to help her sketch some dress ideas that she is pitching to Gladys Knight later this week. Here is for trying...

Homemaking through the ages

I was approached a while back about designing the cover of a cookbook. That project never panned out; however the idea must have stuck with me while I put together some concept art for Hanna Barbera art gallery. This is one of two pieces I concepted for the gallery. I wanted to prepare it so that it could easily be screen printed in 5 colors. I decided to leave this one alone and push my Wendy from Scooby Doo concept further.

Michael, Jason, Jerry, and Julia

Took time away from the blue pencil and the sketchbook this morning to do some value and portrait studies digitally. It was a lot of fun to put together. Each portrait study took 30 to 40 minutes to complete. I'm sure there will be many more to come.

In Progress

Working on some temple pieces that I could screen print and maybe hang in the house. Looking to nail it with 2 or 3 colors. I've still got some ideas to push around, but here is where I'm at so far with the project.

Running On

Inspired by road signage, other artists, and the Ogden 26.2. The Ogden Union Station is visible in the background. The Ogden marathon finishes just up the road from that historic location. I created this imaginary sign to remember the event in 2009. My wife and I ran the whole marathon together. Looking at this logo you either see a man running toward you with the woman running  after, a woman running away from you with the man following, and maybe a man running toward you and the woman running away. In my case, I'm usually chasing after my wife, she is faster than me.
